The Case of my Covid19 Vaccination

I am currently residing in India. I was able to book my vaccination slot on May 11, at around 11 pm. This felt nothing less than a big victory when one is trying to book the slot for the last so many days and had exactly 5 seconds to book that one enchanting slot. The telegram slot finder under45.in and google chrome incognito mode worked for me.

On May 13, I was very excited (I never thought in my life that I would be so excited about the vaccination when I was the one creating a scene, even with a little prick ). I got my first round of covishield ( AstraZeneca) vaccine at Abhay Prashal Sports Complex, covid vaccine center in Indore (MP). I was so pleasantly surprised to find that everyone was in line, maintaining social distance without being told to. It took me around 15 minutes to complete the whole process of vaccination. And again, immense respect to all the front-line workers who are there for us committed to their work and risking their lives. After around 3–4 hours, I started developing fever and body ache symptoms which lasted for around 2 days. I took paracetamol, had a good diet, and took a rest.

So yes, I am done with the first vaccine dose, but instead of urging everyone around to go and get their vaccine shots, I am aware of the acute vaccine shortage in India. As far as slot bookings are concerned, in a way, we are fighting with our own friends/cousins/neighbors to book that one vaccine slot. It is not a very happy feeling. There might be people in the 18–44 age group who might need the vaccine more urgently due to comorbidity or who might have to go out for work every single day. Still, unfortunately, no such considerations and policies are in place. Adding on to that, one needs to know English, have a good internet connection, and access to the apps and registration portals to even attempt to book a vaccination slot, and in other words, to “save one’s life." And there are so many around us, house help, vegetable vendors, and so on who might not have access to such things. It is a heartfelt crazy, and bad situation. I am trying my bit to help around. I hope the government authorities will do something about it at least NOW.

This pandemic is not over until it's over for everyone. We are all in this together. Until then, to hope, peace and happiness.
